2009 My Father's Syrah

The Wine ...Dark red with a purple hue, this wine is beautiful to view in the glass.  The aromas fill the senses with blackberry, cheery, vanilla and pie crust.  A velvet like entry, this syrah swirls around the pallet with soft silky tannins, breaking through complexity of flavors like blackberry, cola, ripe apple and fig to delight the taste buds.  My Fathers Vineyard Syrah pairs nicely with grilled rib eye and wild mushrooms.

The Vineyard ...My Father's Vineyard, named for Tracy Dutton's mother and father's home property, was planted by Joe Dutton in 2002.  Planted in one of the coldest regions of the Russian River AVA, this vineyard consistently produces some of the Dutton Estate Winery's most sought after Syrahs.

The Winemaking ... The fruit from My Father's Vineyard is de-stemmed and cold soaked.  Fermentation then takes place in open top fermentors and punched down by hand manually up to four times aper day to extract optimal flavors of the vineyard.  The wine is then racked into French and American oak barrels for 10 months.  Upon completion of secondary fermentation, barrels were then blended to create our finished product.
