The Wine...

A crystal clear wine of light straw color with a tint of emerald that exudes aromas of honeysuckle, thyme, melon and fresh rain. Refreshing flavors of Honeydew melon, apple, and minerals lead into a long finish of fresh cut thyme and green apple.  Low alcohol and ample acidity make this wine a great pairing with oysters to spicy Thai dishes. A nice palate opener, lunch wine or hors d’oeuvre accompaniment. 

The Vineyard...

Dutton Ranch farms over eighty unique, separate vineyards located in the coolest areas of the Russian River Valley, primarily in the sub-appellation known as the Green Valley. This two acre lot, Kylies Vineyard, was recently grafted to the Musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc. This vineyard is located at the Home Ranch west of the town of Graton in the Green Valley-Russian River appellation. This is one of the coolest sites planted to Sauvignon Blanc in California.

The Winemaking...

The fruit for our Sauvignon Blanc is gently whole cluster pressed. The juice is cold settled, transferred into stainless steel tanks and slowly fermented with cultured yeasts at fifty degrees for 36 days. This cool temperature fermentation allows us to ferment one brix per day to retain the fresh fruity character of the wine. There was no Malolactic fermentation enhancing the fresh acidity of the wine. The wine is fined, filtered and cold stabilized prior to bottling. This wine was bottled in February 2009.
