Dutton Estate Winery excited to announce new winemaker.

Terry Adams recently retired Director of Winemaking at Sonoma-Cutrer has joined Dutton Estate Winery as its new Winemaker.   

Sebastopol, CA October 7, 2010:  Dutton Estate Winery is excited to announce the hiring of its new consulting winemaker Terry Adams formally Director of Winemaking for Sonoma-Cutrer.  Terry began his winemaking career in 1977 at Chateau Souverain under the tutelage of William Bonetti.  In 1981 Terry joined Sonoma-Cutrer reuniting him again with Mr. Bonetti (who had left Chateau Souverain) where they both helped create the first wines for at Sonoma-Cutrer.  Over the next 10 years Terry absorbed all that he could of the art of winemaking from founding winemaker William Bonetti.  In 1991 Terry took over the reins to become Director of Winemaking and has held that position up until his retirement in July 2010.

Dutton Estate winery was established in 1995 by proprietors Joe and Tracy Dutton.  The Dutton’s set a goal to create wines from some of the over 65 family owned and managed vineyards from the Russian River Valley.  Dutton Estate Winery produces several varietals including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.   Dutton Estate Winery is a producer of small lot wines with a focus on single vineyard selections.  With an annual production of between 4000-5000 total cases the goal is to create low input winemaking practices and allow each individual vineyard to be fully expressed in every bottle of wine. Joe and Tracy Dutton are very excited to extend six generations of family farming along with Terry Adams’s 30 years of winemaking.  Together their goals are to achieve unsurpassed quality wines from a devoted farmer and a loyal winemaker.
